HORSEHEADS, NY — FEBRUARY 6, 2013 — Salient Management Company, a performance management firm that develops business intelligence technology and services to help its clients improve efficiency and profitability, has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in its 2013 Magic Quadrant for “Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms.” This is the third consecutive year that Salient has been listed in this report. In the Gartner research report, Salient was evaluated based on its ease of use (report development time is significantly better than average), data access and integration (above average percent of data integrated from external sources), query performance (leveraging its UXT in-memory technology) and overall product quality (bug-free code). Salient’s customers ranked it above average for 11 of the 15 capabilities evaluated in the survey. This report presents a snapshot of how vendors perform in a market segment with the goal of helping end users make better informed decisions about companies they may be looking to partner with, or whose services or products they may want to purchase. In 2012, Salient unveiled its Salient Collaborative Intelligence Suite 5.0, a new standard for userdriven investigation, discovery and communication across the entire organization and beyond. “The Salient 5.0 Suite represents a major shift in emphasis from individual analysis to a truly collaborative environment,” says Guy Amisano, Salient CEO. “Everyone can have the information they need at their fingertips and at all times, and it’s shareable and usable everywhere. It’s in the format they want and on the device most convenient to them. Any question can be answered in seconds.”
The Suite is based on Salient’s visual data mining solution, an investigative paradigm that puts the specific user in immediate control of all possible data from multiple sources relevant to any given situation, with graphical tools to rapidly identify and drill into outliers within the patterns and trends. The user can then bring in contextual information to complete the analysis and share the intelligence with colleagues and others across widely dispersed collaborative communities. The Salient Collaborative Intelligence Suite V 5.0 democratizes the use of intelligence both inside and outside of traditional organizational boundaries. This year Salient launched its most recent major release, 5.5, with several significant user-driven enhancements, including dynamic collections, bookmark/supermark/storyboard enhancements, context enhancements and ease-of-use and appearance.
“Salient Management Company is dedicated to helping our clients improve their performance and efficiency through better and faster access to actionable intelligence,” says Amisano. “We continuously strive to improve our revolutionary suite of solutions in order to make organizations and their individuals more productive. With 5.0 we made knowledge sharing and collaboration possible across the entire enterprise. With 5.5 we will make the process even easier.” Gartner’s 2013 Magic Quadrant view is that the market for BI and analytics platforms will remain one of the fastest growing software markets. The compound annual growth rate for the BI and analytics space is expected to be 7% through 2016. The dominant theme of the market in 2012, according to Gartner, was that data discovery became a mainstream BI and analytic architecture. The market also saw increased activity in real time, content and predictive analytics. Increasingly, Gartner sees more organizations building diagnostic analytics that leverage critical capabilities, such as interactive visualization, to enable users to drill more easily into the data to discover new insights. For example, visual patterns uncovered in the data might expose an inconsistent supply chain process that is the root cause of an organization’s ability to consistently reach its goal for on-time delivery. In the report, Gartner also noted that “the ability to find patterns, correlations and insights across multistructured data will become a mainstream requirement as companies try to better innovate and find operational efficiencies across business processes that leverage data.
