The following opportunities currently exist at Salient:

 

Software engineers must possess strong programming skills in C++. They are expected to develop construct, test and maintain computer applications. Must possess ability to create, build, and understand complex templated classes. They also apply the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development and testing of computer programs written and maintained by them for our internal use as well as those written to be sold to our clients.

Employees are expected to work collaboratively with their peers to find solutions to programming problems that improve performance of the program and maintainability without regard to ownership of the solution. Must be able to discuss and define the goals of the system. Design and create the objects that are used to create computer applications. Familiarity with Windows Programming and .NET.

Position requires B.S. (M.S. preferred), Computer Science/Mathematics Minimum – 3 years extensive C++ development and multi-threading environment

Computer Software Engineer

 

Position: Quality Assurance Specialist I

Department:  Quality Assurance (QA)

Reports to:  Quality Assurance Manager

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE:  Test the features and functionality of Salient software as directed by QA Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

**

Develop a thorough understanding of the principal Salient software programs.

**

Extensively test the features and functionality of Salient software as directed by QA Manager.

**

Communicate in writing the details of defects found with the software. Provide adequate supporting documentation to permit reproduction of these defects.

**

Verify that identified defects have been corrected.  Maintain a retesting log.

**

Create automated scripts for regression testing to: 1) test new software features and 2) ensure previously-corrected defects do not resurface.

**

Convert existing regression test scripts for use with the new test suite.

**

Assist the Engineering Departments with testing newly-developed features or programs.

**

Review manuals, on-line help and other associated documentation for content as well as typographical and other errors.

 

Carry out other duties as necessary to perform functions assigned.

Complexity of Work & Decision-Making: Moderate

Measures of Performance:  Level of Salient software knowledge, quality and quantity of defects initiated and of regression tests created.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education -  Associate degree in a related field

Experience  -  Minimum requirements are:

  • 1 to 3 years of computer/software experience in a related/relevant discipline
  • A degree in computer/software engineering or a related/relevant discipline and business database knowledge
  • Programming and regression testing experience are preferred, but highly qualified persons with similar discipline experience will be considered

  • Competence in the technologies pertinent to Salient’s products
